The Full Story
From the 29th of August until the 30th of September 2026, Veronika presents her installation Still Air / Bewegte Luft
at ANNAHME BASEL. The installation consists out of a Glass Vitrine, photographs, sculptures, branches and a ventilator.
Inside the glass vitrine, a small ventilator moves the air. From outside, through the glass, the scene resembles a snow globe — enclosed, sealed, slightly unreal. You see movement, but cannot feel it. The glass is a membrane between two states of the same moment: still air and moved air. Mountain photographs, printed on light paper, flutter against their own grandeur. The mountains do not move — but their image does, never quite settling. Small sculptures that respond to invisible air — small actors in a private wind that nobody outside can share.
Inverted branches Suspended upside-down, they become specimens — as if collected and preserved in a natural history museum.

We are always on the outside of something.
The world presents itself to us through membranes — glass, skin, language, time. We perceive, but never fully enter. Are the observer and the observed ever truly the same ?
What we see does not simply exist — it reveals itself, and only ever partially. The air moves, but its movement is withheld from you. The branches hang still, yet something in them stirs. What you cannot touch, you nonetheless feel ...the presence that withholds itself and in doing so, draws you closer to what lingers at the edge of the visible, neither fully here nor there.
